But, you left
An argument in my head
“Why are you so fucking sad?”
“I just thought things would be different.”
“In what way?”
“I thought that, after being lonely for five years, coming back home would make me happy.”
“Why would you think that? When were you ever happy here?”
“I’m sure that I was.”
“Name once.”
…
“Exactly.”
“But, my friends said they missed me so much while I was away.”
“Yeah, words are easy. Have they come to see you yet?”
“Well, once..”
“And how many months have you been here?”
…
“Exactly. Why would you expect things to be any different at all? They never came to see you before you left, they won’t after.”
“I guess I just thought that I meant more to them.”
“But you’re the one who left. You left them all alone to be swallowed by life and now you expect them to swim to the surface now that you’re back? People drown, they die, they’re reborn into new people that you’ll never fully understand.”
“I was drowning too.”
“And they let you, so, fuck them. In two more years, they’ll have never touched you. You’ll be a new person and they will only haunt you as ghosts.”
“But I love them.”
“Do you? Or are you scared to be alone?”
“I’m alone now.”
“Yeah, and look how fucking sad you are.”

holy hell, 😳 I just wanna hug you. ✨🦋
Oh yeah. Felt this. What a beautiful way to use the prompt. Are you ok after writing it though? Must feel pretty heavy.
