Too Far Gone
A thousand voices
Rang through the air
Singing of a god
But in their words, hung despair.
I hid with my camera
As they pulled her from the crowd
Kicking and screaming
The others seemed proud.
They sliced up her arms
Threw her at his feet
Blood and screams mixing
A sheep forced to bleat.
In that moment
The air stood still
He peeled back his skin
Began eating his fill.
Higher and higher
His form began to rise
My blood ran cold
I couldn't stifle my cries.
What once was a man
Unremarkable and soft
Now an unfathomable beast
At my fear he scoffed.
I can sense it
My race has been run
My curiosity killed me
My life's tapestry, undone.
